Poppenliefde

English: Here is Moon. Isn't she gorgeous? Moon will be in my Etsy shop later today. I will ship her on Monday. So there's a big chance she will be in time for Christmas. It was a joy making her and seeing her coming to life.

English: Sinterklaas has left our country this week and we all got some lovely gifts. Did you get some?
I got a lovely phone case with a photo of one of my dolls on it. If you would like to buy one for under the Christmas tree. Take a look at www.herinneringenoplinnen.nl. Wouldn't this be a wonderful Christmas gift?
I also got a record player suitcase. I love the cracking sound.

English: Aveline was so excited to finally go outside. She came to me so excited. She told me she wanted to gather some fallen leaves. She even brought some seeds for the birds. But although the weather is nice today (we have sun), everything is still wet. Hopefully she can go for a walk with her new family and maybe even meet snow.
Aveline has a sweet little soul and loves to play, learn about the world and their animals. She loves to snuggle under a warm blanket with a book (and a cookie).
She would love for you to open your home to her. Her price is € 600,- excl. shipping. She is about 16" tall. Her listing is up in my Etsy shop at 3 pm New York time. Here you can find all the other information

  • Buisverband: Ik gebruik tricot buisverband 6cm.
Winkels waar je je spulletjes kan kopen:

  • Kamrinspoppen
  • Little Oke dolls
  • De Witte Engel
  • Wollknoll
Gereedschap

Hij heet The Ultimate Stuffer.

  • Mondaysmilk
  • Ja-wol (super leuk wol winkeltje in Rotterdam. Zeker een bezoekje waard)
  • Julijasshop

English: I regularly get emails with questions about doll making or where I buy my materials. And I love answering every one of them. But why haven't I told you about it on my blog? Exactly! It's time to share my knowledge with you.

Materials
  • Tricot: I use the Swiss jersey (Laib Yala) nr. 4355 (heavy quality). There's also a light weight quality. This one is thinner. So beware when you are ordering.
  • Sewing thread: If you are going to order the same fabric as mine, don't forget to buy the matching sewing thread. I use Duet (but you can use the sewing thread of Güthermann too col. 169 for nr. 4355).
  • Wool: I buy my wool at Wollknoll.
  • Yarn for the head: I use Güthermann yarn super strong col. 169. It's ideal for bigger and smaller heads.
  • Tubular tricot: I use tubular tricot 6cm.
Some shops where you can buy doll making materials:
  • Kamrinspoppen
  • Little Oke dolls
  • De Witte Engel
  • Wollknoll
Tools
What tools do you use to stuff your dolls. The wooden ones? I used them too, but I now use The Ultimate Stuffer (see photo above).

A few shops that are worth a visit:
  • Mondaysmilk
  • Ja-wol
  • Julijasshop
  • Loopknittingshop
  • Frautulpe
  • Merchant & Mills
  • MissMatatabi
  • De Stoffenkamer
I hope this post was useful for you fellow doll makers and creative ladies.
Next time I'm going to tell you more about hair. What I use, where you can buy it and how I make a wig of a weft.

Poppenliefde dolls Florence and Louna

The girls headed home yesterday. Fully clothed with a warm knitted cardigan, knitted leggings and knitted mary janes. And an extra set of clothing with warm knitted socks. I'm so jealous of these girls wardrobe (sigh).
It was so wonderful to work with their mama. We searched the internet for fabrics and that is such a fun part, the shopping (all fabrics came from Japan).

English: And now it's time to knit some mittens for myself. But I do think my daughter Silver will grab them away from me.
Pattern: Treehouse mitts from Mandarine's on Ravelry.

I have been knitting a bit. This year I wanted to knit our own hats. I can never find the hat I love in the shops and the ones I like (the knitted ones) are too expensive. I love to knit and it makes me happy to see the smiles on my kids faces when I say I'm knitting it for them.

I'm working on two sisters for almost a half year. Yes I know....
But how guilty I sometimes feel, when I see the results so far, I'm so happy. Even my wardrobe isn't looking as nice as theirs.

This little lady is a special girl for her momma. And I felt honored she wanted me to make her for her. And I love her. Isn't she a sweet little thing?

It has always been a dream to visit New York. When I worked in fashion it was my dream to go to New York to search for new ideas. New designs. I was almost there. I went to Londen, Germany, France but New York was for the head designers. I came pretty far but I decided to stop with that kind of work.

When my friend asked me to go to New York. I said yes (I was in a very good mood). I had a wonderful time. I loved seeing, smelling and tasting New York, but now......I'm broke ;)

And how I loved New York it's not a place I want to visit again. It's just to busy, noisy, dirty and...... expensive for me. But no matter at what time you take your pictures or what ever device you make your photo's with they all look amazing (to me).

Thank you New York for this wonderful experience!

Today we went to the Royal Stables. This year is the first time the Royal Stables are open for public for a few days in August. You have to purchase a ticket and all tickets are already sold. So we were lucky to get some. Especially because Silver loves horses. And how special is this.

Lately I'm knitting more and more for the girls. It's something you can do everywhere and especially in the evening while watching your favorite movie.
I don't write patterns....yet. I think I can do it, but it's a lot of work. So for now I used some lovely patterns you can find on the internet.

Schoolbreak is going on for 2 weeks now and the weather in the Netherlands is amazing. Lucky us.
We are still not sure if we will go on a holiday. We may go to England for pleasure and some business.
Our little girl is on a sleepover and we decided to have a bbq (we have them a lot lately). And roasting marshmallows brings some sister/brother love.

Little Bloom is a custom little girl. Her momma loved Bloom so much that she also wanted a girl like her. And yes she looks like Bloom and her momma calls her Bloom too, but she is totally different then her sister. Just like us we are all different, in looks and personality.

I must admit that all the girls I create are sweet and soft little girls in my mind and it's hard for me to imagine that they would do things they are not allowed.

I always add a little sachet with dried lavender with the dolls. It smells nice and it keeps away the moths from your woolens. Although I love lavender, especially fresh in my garden. I'm not very fond of dried lavender alone.
So I did some searching on the internet for natural mothballs. And I came across these ingredients:

Have you heard about the first European Waldorf Doll Seminar. It's on the 30th of April and the 1st of May.
I will give there two kinds of workshops. Weft making and sewing doll clothes.
I received the wonderful locks where we are going to work with. The colors are lovely, they are wonderful to work with, are soft and they even smell good.

There she is Liv. Did you know my youngest daughter's name is Liv? And if they are both the same, then this little Liv will be a handful. Liv is sweet, she gives you hugs and kisses. Brings you little surprises like drawings.....a lot of drawings. And some little snacks. She loves to take care of you.

When I first showed a glimpse of this kind little spirit her mom immediately knew her name.
Nora. But what she didn't know is that my daughter Silver also has Nora in her name. How special is that?

I want to wish you all a Happy Easter!

I know it's a little late but Happy Valentine's day. I hope love has reached you and you gave some love back. I got some lovely handmade cards from my kids. And my love gave me some beautiful tulips. What more can a wife and mother wish for.

Three weeks ago I decided to do the Make Film Course of Xanthe Berkeley's. I made a stopmotion movie of Meadow's clothes. Ok, with an Iphone and that laying on a doll bed with another dollbed on it (yes really). The quality was bad, but I loved it so much. When doing the course I decided to buy a new videocamera. Hopefully to make little movies of me as a doll maker and to capture family moments. I would love to have the Canon 5D MIII. But he who doesn't. But I have a good camera and decided to go for the more affordable Canon G7X and a tripod.

My first try was at a birthday party at my nieces. She has such a cozy home and this was the perfect moment to figure out my new camera and the different angles.
I have to admit I changed the movie a little today. More shots in it and different music.

This course is so much fun and I recommend visiting Xanthe Berkeley's site and maybe attend a course too.

 A mother's love is special,
a never-ending gift.
A love that's always there

if you ever need a lift.

"In the meadow of the valley,
Where wild flowers are roaming free.
There are multitudes of colors
And their backdrop forest greens."
