Royal Stables

woensdag 10 augustus 2016

Today we went to the Royal Stables. This year is the first time the Royal Stables are open for public for a few days in August. You have to purchase a ticket and all tickets are already sold. So we were lucky to get some. Especially because Silver loves horses. And how special is this.

Ofcourse we also saw the carriages.

And we were even allowed to pet some horses!

Oh those horses are so beautiful!

And the rooms for the sadles and halters!

The girls were so happy they were allowed to sit in a carriage. Just put your foot on the wheel and climb.

And then before we knew it we were at the end...

Knitting away

donderdag 28 juli 2016

Lately I'm knitting more and more for the girls. It's something you can do everywhere and especially in the evening while watching your favorite movie.
I don't write patterns....yet. I think I can do it, but it's a lot of work. So for now I used some lovely patterns you can find on the internet.

The pattern of the leggings is from Paelas. And the sweet bunting sweater is from Laura Chau Designs. I did made some adaptions to the pattern so it will fit my girls.
I knitted the socks my self, so no pattern there.

Here you can see the lovely details of the leggings. Isn't it gorgeous?

For the socks I used the lovely yarn from Gregoria Fibers. I love her yarns. They are all natural dyed and they smell delicious. We found those lovely pink shells on the beach on our little visit.

Here I was still working on the I-cord. This sweater is also from Paelas. (please note I also adapted the pattern a bit and changed the gauge to make it fit my girls).

I'm following Kammebornia on Instagram. She is a wonderful knitter and every month she has a wonderful podcast on Youtube. Please follow her if you aren't yet and do watch their podcasts they already made.
She is hosting some knitAlongs like the Vivid blanket. You can find it on Instagram under the hashtag #vividkalkammebornia. The plan is to have a warm blanket at the end of the year.

I'm not sure if I'm going to make it, because I just knitted 6 and I need a lot, lot more. I wanted to knit mine in the same colour and there will be some slight differences. I will knit them all with the yarn from Gregoria Fibers. It gives such a nice texture. I adapted the pattern a little. Less rows at the end and eyelets in the corners till the end.

Happy knitting!

P.s. message me if you want me to make a dollsize legging or sweater or socks for your girls ;)

Schoolbreak is going on for 2 weeks now and the weather in the Netherlands is amazing. Lucky us.
We are still not sure if we will go on a holiday. We may go to England for pleasure and some business.
Our little girl is on a sleepover and we decided to have a bbq (we have them a lot lately). And roasting marshmallows brings some sister/brother love.

(Yum yum yum those sugarbombs are delicious)

I hope you are having a wonderful summer. Enjoy!!

Bloom, the flower girl

woensdag 15 juni 2016

Little Bloom is a custom little girl. Her momma loved Bloom so much that she also wanted a girl like her. And yes she looks like Bloom and her momma calls her Bloom too, but she is totally different then her sister. Just like us we are all different, in looks and personality.

I must admit that all the girls I create are sweet and soft little girls in my mind and it's hard for me to imagine that they would do things they are not allowed.

Yesterday I was talking with my oldest daughter Silver about all the things that I did when I was her age (and younger) that wasn't allowed. And........boy I'm so happy my kids aren't doing those things. Really. You won't believe what I did.

Bloom is like her sister a flower girl, who loves to go outside into the woods and fields. Searching for little bugs and beautiful flowers. But she doesn't mind to get dirty and loves to climb trees.
Her momma already bought her some lovely things to take with her on her adventures.

Have an adventurous, beautiful life sweet Bloom!

Juni the blue eyed girl with her brown curly locks.

Little Juni will travel with me to the seminar tomorrow.
She is about 16" tall. She is made of Swiss jersey and filled with soft sheep wool.
Her hair is Wensleydale locks in the colour dark brown. I made a weft of the locks and crocheted it into a mohair cap. I used the mohair yarn of DollyMo.
She is wearing:

- Mondaysmilk linen trousers
- Mondaysmilk linen dress
- socks
- boots
- a pompom
- and a handknitted shawl

Natural mothballs

maandag 11 april 2016

I always add a little sachet with dried lavender with the dolls. It smells nice and it keeps away the moths from your woolens. Although I love lavender, especially fresh in my garden. I'm not very fond of dried lavender alone.
So I did some searching on the internet for natural mothballs. And I came across these ingredients:

Lavender, spearmint, thyme, rosemary, cloves, cinnamon and cedar shavings (this little sachet doesn't have the cedar shavings, but the next ones will).

It smells so delicious!
I use the same amount of every herb and a little less cloves (cloves are very intense) but just add the amount you want to make a lovely smelling natural mothball.

Of course there are more herbs you can use to make a chemical free mothball like tansy or woodruff.

I still have a lot of preparations to do for the seminar. Stress is in the house ;)

Have a wonderful week!

European Waldorf Doll Seminar 2016

vrijdag 8 april 2016

Have you heard about the first European Waldorf Doll Seminar. It's on the 30th of April and the 1st of May.
I will give there two kinds of workshops. Weft making and sewing doll clothes.
I received the wonderful locks where we are going to work with. The colors are lovely, they are wonderful to work with, are soft and they even smell good.

The first locks I worked with are the Teeswater locks in the colour chocolate brown. Isn't it gorgeous?

I hope this little girl will be ready to travel with me to the seminar. You can meet her (and me) there and.........she will be available for purchase on the seminar.
